Xobni launches - I have invites

Microsoft finally gets some sense: BitTorrent from the big M$

Finally Microsoft gets some sense and has started to utilize one of the best p2p protocols out there: BitTorrent.

If you haven’t used BitTorrent before because you were either too confused or simply hadn’t heard of it it’s really quite simple. The basis is a decentralized sharing system that splits the files up into hundreds of smaller files which are then shared bit by bit among all the clients.

Second’d

Finally was able to monkey-rig one of my extra boxes into a BitTorrent box. It really was the funniest thing - it would have intermittent boot failures. Sometimes it would read off an install CD, and sometimes it decided to take a nap.

So I’ve finally got a dedicated Bittorrent box running. Add to this my NSlu2 (or Network Attached Storage Unit by Linksys) that has a 500Gb Western Digital MyBook attached, and you might begin to envision the home network I’m building.

I think I’d like to draw up a flow chart of my current network, and then one of where I plan to be a year or two from now.
