Why net neutrality is not the answer

We need policy to help cut a path for more competition, rather than protecting incumbents — a Bandwidth Competition Act of 2008, not bogus net neutrality. All takers should be allowed access to poles or underground conduits. This is where neutrality should be enforced, instead of being a choke point.

This is a great article - it hits at the heart of the problem with the telecommunications industry today: not enough competition, and government protection of current industry/business model practices.

Digg this and send it to everyone you know!

‘Experience’ by Scott Adams

Scott Adams just wrote a pretty funny post about how being ‘experienced’ at being president isn’t necessarily the end-all-be-all.

Check it. I lolled. (Yes, I’m aware that that actually means to lounge).

I mean, seriously - why the hell does it keep snowing?

I swear I’m going to move soon if this keeps up.

Final Day of the Conference

Ugh, Las Vegas is so dry. Seriously - why didn’t anyone happen to mention that it’s in the middle of a desert? I didn’t realize what it was like - even within all the buildings, the air is so dry that you constantly have a drymouth, your eyes dry out and your hands hurt.

Enough complaining - this conference has been awesome. Besides from some of the sessions that weren’t so great - the networking opportunities alone have been well worth it.

Our WebiScope dinner last night went off beautifully. Everyone had a great time, and I was able to put a lot of faces with names I’ve known for the last six months. Absolutely fantastic and I can’t wait to do it again.

So I’ve seen the dancing fountains every night I’ve been here. If you ever visit Vegas, make sure you hit up O’Shea’s. $2.50 guinness drafts. This is probably the cheapest decent beer available in Las Vegas.

Be heading back tomorrow, I’ll be looking forward to getting some moisture back into my life.

Leavin’ on a jet plane..

Sitting in O’Hare, waiting for my plane to arrive to take me to Las Vegas. Drinking a couple beers at a bar here, listening to some Penny Arcade podcasts and talking to a good friend via AIM.

It’s hard to tell what life has in store sometimes. I’m not one to say (in fact I’m the last person that would ever say) everything happens for a reason - but I think the chaos that is everyday life can be beautiful.

Cianara Sayonara to the rolling plains of Illinois - hello America’s playground. Well at least for a couple days.
